Appointments to the Revision Commission
Now that the national and local elections have passed, many commentators have suggested that the focus of the State of Florida will turn to the constitution revision process. Because it has been twenty years since the last revision commission, interest is expected to be at an all-time high.
The Constitution provides that thirty days after the 1997 Regular Session, the Constitution Revision Commission will convene. Many believe that appointments will probably be made in late-spring. The appointing authorities include the Governor, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President of the Senate, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
Attorney General Butterworth is automatically named to the commission.
