Revision Fact

Florida's population growth is a major issue that will affect all other issues. Specifically, population growth directly affects transportation, education, health care, natural resources, recreation, pollution, and crime.

The year 1978 represents the last time the Constitution Revision Commission convened. Since that time, Florida's population has grown by 63 percent. Furthermore, projections suggest that Florida's population will exceed 17 million by the year 2010.

The dramatic increase in the population of Florida underscores the revision commission's charge.
