       The Committee on Executive (Keiser) recommended the following:
       
    1         CRC Amendment 
    2  
    3         Delete lines 60 - 63
    4  and insert:
    5         shall perform any other duties that are provided by law.
    6  Recognizing the importance and authority of the sheriffs and
    7  local law enforcement entities to the prevention of terrorist
    8  events as well as ensuring public safety in the community, the
    9  county sheriff shall have authority over and be responsible for
   10  security of, and security decisions made, for county operated
   11  buildings, including courthouses, as well as local decisions
   12  regarding the administration and operations of their office that
   13  effect security and law enforcement.
