    1                        A proposal to create                       
    2         a new section in Article X of the State Constitution
    3         to prohibit the naming of public buildings, programs,
    4         or other facilities after municipal, county, or state
    5         elected officials unless certain requirements are met.

    7  Be It Proposed by the Constitution Revision Commission of
    8  Florida:
    9  
   10         A new section is added to Article X of the State
   11  Constitution to read:
   12                              ARTICLE X                            
   13                           MISCELLEANEOUS                          
   14         Naming of governmental programs and government-owned
   15  buildings and other facilities.—
   16         (a) The state, a local government, or any other political
   17  subdivision of the state may not name a building, a facility, or
   18  a tract of land owned by the governmental entity, or a program
   19  administered by the governmental entity, after an elected state
   20  or local official until the official has vacated public office.
   21         (b) A law or an ordinance enacted which names a building, a
   22  facility, or a tract of land, or a program after a former
   23  elected state or local official may not contain provisions on
   24  any other subject.
