       Commissioner Smith moved the following:
       
       
    1         CRC Amendment (with ballot amendment)
    2

    4         Delete line 164
    5  and insert:
    6         other than by election by the electors of the county.
    7  However, a county charter that abolished the tax collector and
    8  transferred the duties of such office to another county officer
    9  or office before November 6, 2018, or that transferred county
   10  related duties that would otherwise be performed by the clerk of
   11  the circuit court to another county officer or office before
   12  November 6, 2018, shall not be required to establish such
   13  abolished county officer or transfer any county duties to the
   14  clerk of the circuit court other than by the electors of the
   15  county.

   18  And the ballot statement is amended as follows:
   19         Delete lines 272 - 281
   20  and insert:
   21         Requires legislature to retain veterans’ affairs
   22  department. Ensures election of sheriffs, property appraisers,
   23  and supervisors of elections in all counties; removes county
   24  charters’ ability to abolish, change term, transfer duties, or
   25  eliminate election of these offices and tax collector and clerk
   26  of court. Changes annual legislative session commencement date
   27  in even numbered years from March to January; removes
   28  legislature’s authorization to fix date. Creates domestic
   29  security and counterterrorism office within department of law
   30  enforcement.
