Commissioner John Stemberger is an AV Rated Florida civil trial lawyer who has litigated high-profile civil and constitutional cases as the principal of the Law Offices of John Stemberger, PA in Orlando. He attended Daytona Beach Community College where he served as the campus Student Body President. In 1985, he was elected by his colleagues around the state as President of the Florida Junior Colleges Student Government Association (FJCSGA). He later attended Florida State University where he studied political science and philosophy before obtaining a Juris Doctorate of Law at the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
Commissioner Stemberger previously worked in both the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate and has observed the Florida Legislature operate for over 27 years. In 1992, he was appointed as Political Director of the Republican Party of Florida during the final campaign of former President George H. W. Bush. In 2001, he was appointed twice by Governor Jeb Bush to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Ninth Judicial Circuit where he served eight years and served as Chairman to the commission.
Commissioner Stemberger has been quoted in news and media sources hundreds of times as an expert on constitutional law, public policy, culture and religion. He has been a conservative policy advocate for over 30 years, and since 2005, has led the Florida Family Policy Council (FFPC).
Commissioner Stemberger also has a long history of serving children and youth organizations. He has volunteered as a Guardian Ad Litem representing abused and neglected children for 13 years with the Orange County Bar’s Legal Aid Society and in 2013 he helped found and now serves as Chairman of the Board for Trail Life USA, a Christian scouting organization for boys which has grown to almost 700 troops in 48 states.
Commissioner Stemberger was born and grew up in Daytona Beach where he was the oldest of five children. John married his wife Olivia in 1994 and they have four children.
