       Commissioner Smith moved the following:
       
       
    1         CRC Amendment (with ballot amendment)

    4         Delete line 164
    5  and insert:
    6         other than by election by the electors of the county.
    7  However, a county charter that abolished the tax collector and
    8  transferred the duties of such office to another county officer
    9  or office before November 6, 2018, shall not be required to
   10  establish such county officer other than by the electors of the
   11  county.

   14  And the ballot statement is amended as follows:
   15         Delete lines 272 - 281
   16  and insert:
   17         Requires legislature to retain veterans’ affairs
   18  department. Ensures election of sheriffs, property appraisers,
   19  supervisors of elections, and clerks of court in all counties;
   20  removes county charters’ ability to abolish, change term,
   21  transfer duties, or eliminate election of these offices and the
   22  tax collector’s office. Changes annual legislative session
   23  commencement date in even numbered years from March to January;
   24  removes legislature’s authorization to fix date. Creates
   25  domestic security and counterterrorism office within department
   26  of law enforcement.
