ARTICLE I: DECLARATION OF RIGHTS, Section 3. Religious freedom.

SECTION 3.Religious freedom.

(1) There shall be no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting or penalizing the free exercise thereof. Religious freedom shall not justify practices inconsistent with public morals, peace or safety. No revenue of the state or any political subdivision or agency thereof shall ever be taken from the public treasury directly or indirectly in aid of any church, sect, or religious denomination or in aid of any sectarian institution.

(2) Nothing in Section (1) shall be a basis to infringe upon the rights of any citizen or to discriminate against any citizen in housing, employment, or services based upon race, country of origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, or any other protections otherwise contained within the Constitution of the State of Florida or the Constitution of the United States or America. No business offering services or goods to the public and citizens of the State of Florida may use Section (1) as a basis to deny their services or goods.

SECTION 27. Marriage defined.

Inasmuch as marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized.
