Commissioner Tim Cerio is a regulatory and healthcare attorney and practices law in Tallahassee. Commissioner Cerio previously served as General Counsel to Governor Rick Scott from 2015 to 2016. As General Counsel, he was the chief legal advisor to the Governor, and the Executive Office of the Governor's legal liaison to all federal, state, and local agencies. After completing his service, Commissioner Cerio formed his own law firm, Timothy M. Cerio, LLC, and he remains of counsel to GrayRobinson, P.A.

Commissioner Cerio previously served as general counsel and chief of staff of the Florida Department of Health. With over 16,000 employees and a $2.8 billion budget, the Florida Department of Health is responsible for regulating all licensed health care practitioners and delivering public health services throughout the State of Florida. Commissioner Cerio was appointed by Governor Scott to serve on the Judicial Nominating Commission for the First District Court of Appeal (2013-2015), and he is currently a member of the James Madison Institute Board of Directors.

Commissioner Cerio focuses his practice on regulatory and health care law; government investigations; administrative law, including representation of clients in quasi-judicial proceedings; and complex litigation in state and federal courts.

Commissioner Cerio received his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida where he was a member of Florida Blue Key. He has remained active with his alma mater serving as president of both the University of Florida Alumni Association and the UF College of Law Alumni Council.

Commissioner Cerio has been married to his high school sweetheart, Jayne, for 25 years, and they have three amazing children.
